Issue reinstalling spread control 3.0.10

    Issue reinstalling spread control 3.0.10

    When reinstalling to a new machine, I accidentally (brain fog) installed the trial version instead of checking the box with the 'already have product key'.

     After realizing my mistake, I went back and uninstalled, and reinstalled using our product key and serial number, however I'm still getting the 'Trial' popup when using our application with embedded Spread Control.

     Please assist

    Lachlan -

    Does an "Already Purchased' button not appear on the trial screen?  If not then send me an e-mail and I will give you instructions.  This is for 3.0.10 for the COM version, correct?

    Lachlan,

    What type of application are you creating with the Spread and how are you instantiating the Spread in the application. It sounds like this may be a VC++ application that you statically creating the control on a dialog. If this is the case, you need to open the dialog at design time, cut the Spread off the dialog and paste it back on. This will cause the DLGINIT section of the RC file to recreate the stored licensing and you should get the purchased license and you should be able to compile and run with no issues.

    Sorry, It is actually spread control 6, but the error message that comes up gives 3.0.10 list pro controls.

     It is a visual basic application (an old one we wrote > 10 years ago) that we still support, but the old machien we used to build it on died and i'm trying to get it back together again.

    Initial installation shows:

     

    I use the product code/serial number pair we have for installation.

    When executing our application however, I get

     

    I'm not sure which version this really is com etc

    Lachlan,

    The trial screen is for a different product (List Pro) and not Spread. You need to reinstall your copy of the List Pro product.

    Yes, I'm a fool, I've just discovered that (I thought the name was for a bundle or something, comes with not having to build this product in 5 years).

     

    The reason it's finding it in the first place is I have the application installed on this machine, so it finds the list pro ocx (but unlicensed for distribution).

     

    I now have to see if I can locate our List Pro 3.0.10 installation and serial numbers

    Have found this in email, when we got spread 6:

    "

    Waiting for the right time to purchase Spread 6 or upgrade your existing version? Now's the time!

    Purchase a new license of Spread 6 or upgrade your previous version of Spread and we'll give you a free List Pro 3, a value of $245.00. Due to the great response we've received, this offer has been extended to July 31st, 2002 

    "

     Would you know if our spread 6 license would work for the list pro, or would we have been sent another?

    Apologies for this mess.

    We've dug the serial numbers out of an email from 2002, and seem to be back in business.
