    examples need license?

    I tried opening

    C:\Program Files (x86)\FarPoint Technologies\Spread.WinForms.4.dotNet20\v4.0.2010\Samples\Cs\SpreadWinDemo

on my machine and got the error:

    ---------------------------
    License Agreement Not Found
    ---------------------------
The License Agreement file, "C:\WINDOWS\system32\fplicense.txt" does not exist. Please install this file to continue.
    ---------------------------
    OK

Do I need to buy your product to try the examples?!

    Re: examples need license?

    Hello,

You don't need to buy the Product to try the Samples as it doesn't require License. It seems that some files are missing from the sample project that is the reason you are getting this message.

I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the product (Download link: ftp://ftp.fpoint.com/SpreadWinForms4/ ) and let us know if you still face issues while running the samples.

    Thanks,

    Re: examples need license?

    No joy. I uninstalled, reinstalled:

    ftp://ftp.fpoint.com/SpreadWinForms4/spwin4_net20-2010.zip

    Opened up:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\FarPoint Technologies\Spread.WinForms.4.dotNet20\v4.0.2010\Samples\Examples\examplesCS

    hit build and got:

    ---------------------------
    License Agreement Not Found
    ---------------------------
The License Agreement file, "C:\WINDOWS\system32\fplicense.txt" does not exist. Please install this file to continue.
    ---------------------------

    Re: examples need license?

    Tony,

Ideally, you would not need to have a license version before trying the Eval version of the control. Before attempting this trial installtion, was the spread4 trial version was installed on your machine earlier as well?

    Thanks

    Re: examples need license?

no, there was no previous version installed.

I can use the trial version of the spread control in my own app and run SOME example projects, like:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\FarPoint Technologies\Spread.WinForms.4.dotNet20\v4.0.2010\Samples\Cs\ExcelClone

    just fine.

    Re: examples need license?

    Hello Baker,

You might be facing this issue because of incorrect entry in license.licx file. To resolve the issue, you may try opening the solution in Visual Studio. Locate the license.licx file in the Solution Explorer and remove it. Next, ReBuild the entire solution.

Let me know if it resolves the issue.

Deleted license.licx from solution explorer, but no joy :-(

Same error on a rebuild all:

The License Agreement file, "C:\WINDOWS\system32\fplicense.txt" does not exist. Please install this file to continue.

    Attachment: licenses.zip

Try using the attached license.licx file.

    Re: examples need license?

I added that file to the project, no joy, same error.

BUT, I copied and renamed the file to fplicense.txt and put it in to my C:\WINDOWS\system32 as well, rebuilt all and it now works!

    Re: examples need license?

Actually, you have a totally different problem. I had the examples, but they didn't compile, which is now fixed (see thread).

I'm guessing you haven't actually installed the example files at install time, or if you're running on a 64 bit OS, you might be looking in the wrong Program Files folder.

    zell71,

Which product are you testing? If it is Spread for ASP.NET and you do not have IIS installed, then what you are seeing is correct. The samples are installed in IIS and if IIS is not installed, the samples would not be installed.

    Re: examples need license?

    Zell,

To view the souce code, open the IIS Manager, expand the Default WebSite and locate the FarPoint_WebSpreadSamples virtual directory. Right click on it and select "explore" option. Here you will find the CS and VB folders that contains the source code of the samples.

You may open the IIS Manager from either control panel or click "start">>"run">>Type "inetmgr" and click "Ok".
